Why they’ve Quit? Many reasons that can be resumed as follows:
1. Not safe.
2. Not effective.
3. Immoral.
4. Unethical.
5. Contaminates tap water.
6. Causes harm to health.
6. Pollutes the environment.
7. A highly hazardous, industrial toxic waste.
8. Mass medication without medical supervision.
9. Unproved claim of benefit on children’s teeth.
10. No toxicology studies or clinical trials as required for use as a water additive.
11. Uses municipal water supply as a waste disposal method.
12. Legal liability for damage to teeth, health and environment.
13. Taxation issues: waste of tax dollars.
14. Unapproved, untested and unregulated as a drug.
15. No one has ever given their consent to being medicated for tooth decay.
16. Councillors are effectively practicing medicine without a licence.

As of April 1, 2012, only about 3% of Quebec and 3% of B.C. are now fluoridated. Ontario is trending downward at less than 70%.

The City of Montreal has never been fluoridated thanks to Mayor Jean Drapeau’s intervention in 1964.

Kingsville/Leamington have never been fluoridated because the Heinz Company would not allow the water they use for processing their baby food to be contaminated with Hydrofluorosilicic Acid or Sodium Fluoride. Heinz actually recommends that you do not use tap water for their baby formula. Now isn’t that amazing!

– Prince Edward Island is 23.7% fluoridated.

A plebiscite on fluoridation was held in Charlottetown in 1967. Fluoridation began in that city in 1968 as well as the Canadian Forces Base in Summerside but ended there in 2008 (by order of the military). Currently, P.E.I. is focusing on preventive dental programs for children and adolescents through schools, which include topical fluoride application for the partial prevention of tooth decay.
